By Monday afternoon, the three sea-faring couples were back on shore. They bid their sad farewells and Corinne, Celia and Wendy all exchanged phone numbers and promised they would all get together soon for a “girl’s night out”. Corinne was looking forward to that, but right now, she was sad to know that this was her last bit of time with Nick, for now, at least.
Nick and Corinne still had a sparkling conversation all the way back to LA. However, Corinne found herself feeling a little depressed that it would soon be over and she had to “face the music” with Kevin. She also felt bad that she had lied to Nick about her and Kevin. He thought she and Kevin had talked and decided mutually to stay broken up, but that had not been the case. There was still much talking to be done. But Corinne couldn’t quite bring herself to tell Nick the truth, at least not yet and it turned out to be her downfall.
Nick pulled up in front of Corinne’s apartment and helped her bring her things to her front door. Corinne opened the door and they walked in together. Nick put her suitcase down and looked around.
“Wow, Corinne. This is as big as a condo.” Nick said, impressed.
“Yeah, it’s almost 1,400 square feet. I guess I just call it an apartment, but you’re right, I think technically it is a condo.”
“It’s really nice. I like how you’ve decorated it.”
“Thanks!”
“Well, I’ll let you get some rest, but I’ll call you later, okay?” Nick said and kissed her.
“I had a great time with you this weekend.”
“I did, too, Nick. Thanks for— everything.” And they smiled at each other, knowing what the “everything” entailed.
“Em hem.” Corinne and Nick jumped. Suddenly there was a voice coming out of nowhere. They turned to see Kevin sitting there on Corinne’s sofa. They hadn’t even noticed him when they walked in.
“Oh my God, Kevin! Hi!” Corinne’s heart was beating a thousand times a minute as trepidation gripped her body. This is not what she wanted to happen. Not only did she not want Kevin to know about her and Nick, at least not until she talked him about it, but she especially did not want him to witness the affectionate banter and kiss! they had just displayed, let alone knowledge that they had spent a weekend together. Oh God…
“Kev, hi. I’ll let you guys talk. Bye.” Nick was out of there in a flash and Corinne didn’t blame him. She wished she could follow him.
Corinne sighed and walked over to the sofa and sat down next to Kevin. Kevin looked at her with sad eyes and said quietly,
“Corinne, I’ve been really worried about you since I wasn’t able to get a hold of you all weekend. So, how was your weekend with Nick?”
Corinne? Kevin rarely called her Corinne. He always called her “Rinna”. That was the nickname he thought up and started calling her right before he confessed that he was in love with her. She loved it and soon after started calling him Scotty. It was their way of telling each other how much they meant to one another. Julia called her Rini, but it wasn’t the same. Rinna sounded so rich, so beautiful coming from Kevin’s lips, reverberating off his tongue from his deep, vibrant voice… Oh, God, he must be really mad at her, she realized.
“Corinne? What happened to Rinna?”
“I don’t know what happened to Rinna. What did happen to Rinna?” Kevin said, a little anger creeping into his voice.
She looked at him and saw his sadness and then his anger and she couldn’t say she blamed him. She had been insensitive towards him these past few days…
“Oh, Kevin, I’m sorry.” She sighed. “I really am. Okay, so I tried to listen to your message, but the voice mail system deleted it. Apparently, you can only listen to a message twice and then the system purges it…”
“How convenient.” He said, sarcastically.
“No, I was pissed! I really wanted to listen to your message…”
“Look, Corinne, if you really had wanted to listen to it, you would have on Friday night.” She couldn’t argue with him there.
“You’re right.” She admitted to him.
“OK, so you don’t know what the message said, but you decide to go away for the weekend with fucking Nick? What the Hell…?” She knew he was angry and didn’t blame him.
“Look, Scot…Kevin, I tried to listen to your message, I couldn’t and the whole thing with Nick just sort of happened. I couldn’t call you because we were out on the ocean, but I planned to call you as soon as I got back today.”
“Again, how convenient.”
“Kevin, I wasn’t trying to hurt you intentionally. But we were broken up and I didn’t know what your message said and I just needed to get away, okay?”
“Okay, I get that, but didn’t you care about how I would feel not being able to reach you? My God, we were together for six months and we are or were in love. Doesn’t that count for something? I know I wouldn’t do that to you.” Kevin stood up to face her, no longer able to just sit there quietly next to her.
“I know, I know, I feel like shit, okay? I’m sorry.” She yelled back, frustrated. Frustrated with herself. But at this moment she didn’t know if she would be more mad at herself for going away with Nick or if she hadn’t gone…
Corinne stood up in front of Kevin and Kevin took her in his arms. They found themselves almost teary-eyed again as they held onto one another. Suddenly Corinne was back to being confused; did she want Kevin or possibly Nick? Feelings for Kevin came flooding back like the tide and like Kevin had earlier, she began remembering so many of the good times...
“So, what did you think of my new techniques?” Corinne asked, lazily dangling her naked legs off Kevin’s bed.
“I’d give you an A+. Fuckin’ awesome.” Kevin smiled at her at the opposite end of the bed; his head at the headboard, hers at the footboard. An hour had passed and they were still just hanging out that way.
It was the second time they had made love and Corinne’s co-worker had given her a book about the fine arts of Kuma Sutra, which they decided to incorporate into their lovemaking. The result was off-the-charts blow-your-mind sex that had them trying to repeat in the months that followed.
“So, am I the best you’ve ever had?” Corinne dared to ask.
“Well, wait a minute, let me think… there were so many before you… Janice was really hot and Tina, well, she was really good and…”
Plop! A pillow hit Kevin in the face. Kevin laughed, threw it away and crawled down to the other end of the bed to take Corinne in his arms.
“Yes, to answer your question. You are. Not only because sexually you are incredible, but because I have feelings for you.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” He smiled.
“Me, too.”
“Cool, then you won’t mind if I do this, then?” Kevin took her right breast into his mouth and sucked its taut nipple, bringing an instant thrill to Corinne’s body.
“No, not at all…” she moaned, closing her eyes.
“Or this?” Kevin said as he traveled down to her pussy and dipped his tongue into her wetness, licking and sucking her clit to her delight.
“No! I mean, yes!” Corinne moaned and came within seconds.
Kevin took her again and they came with wild abandon. They were already well on their way to admitting their feelings of love for one another…
Suddenly Corinne found Kevin’s mouth hard against hers and she also found herself kissing him back, not wanting to fight it. Kevin kissed her roughly, holding her head between his hands and then moving those same hands to her breasts, molding them over her clothing, expertly flicking her nipples, bringing them quickly to hardened peaks. Corinne moaned against Kevin’s lips and he was pleased he could still excite her. He then quickly pulled Corinne’s t-shirt over her head and off. His mouth alighted on her breasts, sucking them eagerly through the flimsy material of her bra. Oh, Kevin, Corinne was thinking. This felt so good…
Suddenly Corinne’s bra, pants and underwear were off and she was standing there naked. As if in a dream, she watched as Kevin removed his shirt and pants and joined her in of all of his glorious nakedness. Oh, she loved Kevin’s body… he was so muscular, so fit, such a nice big cock…
Kevin was pushing her down onto the floor, straddling her and before Corinne knew it, he was fucking her and she was letting body and not her mind govern her actions. Her mind would have told her to stop, this was not right, but her body just followed instinctively and met Kevin’s every thrust, excited beyond reason and coming inside Kevin as she felt him convulsing with his own orgasm and moaning her name, “Rinna! Oh, Rinna, baby!”
“Hey, guys. I want to introduce you to someone. This is Corinne Whitman. Corinne, this is AJ, Brian, Howie and Nick.” Corinne smiled at the good-looking quartet and shook each of their hands. They all greeted her in turn. Wow, it was surreal actually meeting the Backstreet Boys. A dream come true, in fact. Ever since she and Kevin started dating almost a month ago, she knew this day would come and she couldn’t wait for it. She had only been a Backstreet Boys fan for about two years. Her friend, Melissa had introduced her to them and once she heard “As Long As You Love Me”, she was hooked. Her other favorites are “Drowning, “Shape of My Heart” and “Answer To Our Life”. Oh, hell, she loved all their songs and had all of their CDs. She didn’t care who knew it because she was a loyal fan.
Corinne forced herself not to gush over the four guys and maintain at least some of her dignity as they sat down and talked. They were at Howie’s house. Howie had invited the four guys and her over so they could all get acquainted. He knew Kevin was serious about this one and since they had all met the other guys’ significant others, it was time to met Kevin’s new love.
“Well, make yourself at home.” Howie said and they all did. Lounging on sofas or the floor, each guy did whatever felt comfortable for them. Corinne noticed right away that they each had their own personality and style and did their “own thing”, but more importantly, that they were truly like real-life brothers. Fighting at times, but other times, friendly and playful. It moved her to see such kinship among them. It is what she had hoped she would see and was delighted to experience.
“So, Corinne, how did this low-life snag such a gorgeous woman like you?” AJ asked, laughing.
“Watch it!” Kevin warned, but smiling.
Corinne laughed out loud. “Well, we met at Starbucks of all places! Didn’t Kevin tell you?”
“No, he doesn’t tell us shit!” Nick offered, smothering a laugh.
Corinne smiled. “Well, there’s not much to tell. He used his star power to get his Americano before I got my non-fat Vanilla Latte and that’s how we met.” She loved being able to one-up Kevin for a change.
“No, Rinna, you didn’t know this, but I paid the cashier to do that.”
“Right, Scotty.” Corinne said, laughing.
“Hmm… Rinna? Scotty?” Brian pointed out.
“Oh, yeah…” Corinne and Kevin looked at each other and started laughing.
“Um, those are just these stupid nicknames we made up for each other. Just ignore it.” Corinne said, a little embarrassed.
“OK, whatever, Scotty.” Nick said, still red-faced from laughing.
“Uh, Kev, dude, I think she’s got you by the balls.” AJ joined in.
“Yeah, you wouldn’t let anyone else call you Scotty.” Howie laughed with them.
“That’s right, guys. You see this?” Corinne held up her pinky. “I’ve got him wrapped so tightly around this little finger.”
To that all four guys with the exception of Kevin roared with laughter. They liked Corinne instantly. She fit right in with them. She loved their music, she loved Kevin and she could take their shit. That’s all they needed to know for her to be “in” with them. And Corinne felt safe and at home with all them.
Nick left Corinne’s place heavy-hearted. He felt like a fool running out of there so quickly. Actually, like a coward. He tried to convince himself that it was because Kevin and Corinne needed to talk, but was that really it, Nick? He asked himself. No, that wasn’t it completely. He really didn’t want to deal with Kevin’s reaction, whatever it was. I mean, he knew if the tables were turned and he had just witnessed his girlfriend or even newly ex-girlfriend, acknowledging she spent the weekend with a man and kissed him like he and Corinne had, then he would have hit the roof. For that reason, he wanted to get the hell out of there. He was glad he did anyway since obviously Kevin and Corinne did need to talk.
But what did they talk about and why was Kevin there? If Corinne was to be believed, their relationship had ended. Unless… well, Nick didn’t want to think badly of Corinne, but… unless she had lied to him and she and Kevin hadn’t talked and it wasn’t over. Goddamn it. If that was the case, Nick would be pissed. Pissed that Corinne had lied and pissed that she had allowed him to think that she was available. Because he had allowed himself to think she was available; allowed himself to think she was free to give herself to him; free to maybe be with him. He would not have taken advantage of Kevin in that way. If he had only known… wait a minute, Nick, you don’t even know if she lied… but, why else would Kevin be there? Just because he had a change of heart? It’s possible. He wanted to give Corinne the benefit of the doubt. So, it was for that reason that Nick turned back around after having driven his car down the block and walked up her steps to her front door. No one answered his knock at the door, so Nick took the liberty of looking in the window. Maybe they went out in the backyard or something? Obviously not because the scene before his eyes jolted him back to reality. He couldn’t believe he was actually witnessing Kevin and Corinne kissing and Kevin starting to take her clothes off with no objections from Corinne. He turned away. What the fuck? Did this enchantress just give him the snow job of his life or was she actually deigning to turn around and screw his friend after doing the same to Nick only hours ago…
