Nick arrived at his house around 1:00 am, half-tired, half-wide awake. He couldn’t stop thinking about Corinne the entire drive home and now lying in his bed, it was no surprise sleep evaded him. She was an incredible woman and he had always thought so ever since the first time he met her six months ago when Kevin introduced her to him, AJ, Brian and Howie. He thought she was incredibly hot, of course, because she was, and also very sweet, but he had never allowed himself to think of her as more than Kevin’s girlfriend out of respect for his friend. Now that they were possibly broken up, he let his mind explore the possibilities. Mostly the possibility of getting her in bed again, but maybe even more than that. Of course, it would have been frickin’ awesome to screw her brains out tonight, but it was probably for the best it didn’t happen since what did come out of it was her confessions to him and an insight into her soul which he may have never gotten to see otherwise.
What she shared with him tonight made him feel closer to her and care about her deeply. He had to admit that he always kind of had a secret crush on her. In fact, when he saw her at the party tonight, his heart about leapt out of his chest in excitement. She had this strange affect on him that most women--or not women he knew of late--didn’t. He was actually secretly happy to hear of her and Kevin’s break-up, although, of course, he was sorry for their pain. If they were meant to work it out and be together, so be it, but if not, he wanted a fair shot.
Nick put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes, imagining Corinne naked. Well, he didn’t have to imagine anymore; he had actually seen for himself what a goddess she was. Talk about a fuckin’ perfect body! Killer, man! Every man’s ultimate fantasy come to life. Her remembered her perfectly formed double-D breasts, her tiny waist, flat stomach and partially-shaven mound of sweetness between her thighs… ahhh, yes… and there it was, his erection come to life again. Nick’s hand almost subconsciously moved down to his engorged penis and began stroking it. Thoughts of Corinne’s body and what she was about to do to him before they got interrupted ran threw his head and his imagination picked up where reality had left off. He pictured her straddling him, impaling herself on his hard dick, riding him up and down in abandon, moaning in ecstasy at the feel of him inside her, her hands pressing against his chest in the throes of passion, her hair tousled and her eyes glazed over with passion. One last thrust and she called out his name as she climaxed and then he let go and started pumping his cum inside her, grabbing onto her shoulders and pulling her down to him so he could suck on her luscious globes and then kiss her lips, moving his tongue inside her mouth as they both finished coming inside one another.
“Ohhhh my Godddd, Corinne!” Nick yelled as his hand stroked his cock one last time before a stream of cum shot out of him, pulsating and shuddering with his intense climax. He pumped semen all over himself and his clean sheets, writhing in pleasure. Nick grabbed some Kleenex on the end table, cleaned himself up a little and then minutes later, he fell into a deep, dreamlike sleep.
The next morning at 10:00 am, Corinne woke up still lying on the hotel room bed fully clothed.
She stretched and wondered where she was for a minute. Then it dawned on her where she was and had transpired last night. My God, what a night! She also remembered drinking a few drinks because her head was pounding like crazy. She pulled herself upright and walked into the bathroom to search through her purse for some Ibuprofen. Finding her bottle of Advil, she popped open the cap and downed four of them at a time with a swig of tap water.
‘Oh, God, I look like crap!’ She thought, eying herself in the mirror. God, Nick saw me looking like this! I’ll be lucky if he does call me today!
He’s going to call me today! Her heart beat faster and she suddenly got excited. God, it was great seeing him last night and spending all that time with him. It would have been nice to have sex with him, but the trade-off was that they actually had a real, honest-to-God serious conversation where she unloaded all her shit and he listened. He had actually listened. That was so refreshing. Like she had told Nick last night, she didn’t know many or any men that would have done what he did. Maybe he was doing it so he could get her into pants again and if that’s what it was, then that was fine with her because she wanted another “crack” at that, too, so to speak. She smiled. He was going to be so good in bed when it actually did happen…Sex. She suddenly thought of Kevin. Now, that was something she and Kevin never had a problem with. The sex was always hot and well, really good. There were never complaints in that department from either of them, at least, he hadn’t admitted them to her if he had them. Kevin! She still needed to listen to the rest of his voice mail message!
Corinne walked over to the phone, navigated her way through the automated system until she got to the “check voice mail messages” section and there was an option to play your messages again. She pressed “P” for “play” and Kevin’s voice came over the receiver:
“Rinna, hey, it’s me, Kevin. I hope it’s okay I’m calling you here. I got the number from Julia. You have probably figured out by now that you left your cell phone at my house last night. I would like to give that to you, but I really called to tell you that…”
Knock! Knock!
“Go away!” Corinne yelled, trying to listen to the message.
“It’s me, Julia. Open up!”
Goddamn it! She was never going to hear this fuckin’ message! She slammed the phone down.
“Jules, this was totally bad timing on your part.” Corinne growled at her when she opened the door.
“Why? Do you have a guy in here? Nick, are you in here?” Julia smiled and looked around. Not seeing anyone, she shrugged and walked over to the bed and sat down it.
“Uh, do you mind?” Corinne threw up her hands.
“Wow, you’re grouchy this morning! What side of the bed did you wake up on?”
“The wrong one, obviously! Ugh!”
“What’s wrong?”
“I was just about to listen to Kevin’s voice mail message he left me last night and you knocked on the door right at the part I didn’t get to hear last night! So, I will have to play it again now, thank you very much!”
“Man, you’re bitchy this morning. What’s going on?” Julia looked at her.
Corinne sighed and sat down on the bed next to her. “I’m sorry, Jules. I have a horrible headache… I know, I know! I drank too much last night, you don’t have to say I told you so!”
Julia held up her hand. “I wouldn’t do that.”
“No, not you. You would never say that to me.” Corinne said in a mockingly sarcastic voice, smiling at her friend.
“Well, I guess it does kind of sound like me!” Julia giggled. “OK, so you have a major headache. I’m sorry about that, although it’s your fault…”
Corinne shot her a “I’m going to kill you” look.
Then Corinne asked, "Hey, what did Kevin say when he called you? Oh, and by the way, thanks a lot for giving him my number here."
"You're welcome." Jules answered back just as sarcastically. "Sorry, I didn't know I was supposed to be covering for you. Give me a heads-up next time and I'll lie my ass off for you, sweetie."
"Smart ass. Okay, point taken. So... what did he say?" Corinne asked impatiently.
"Hmm, for someone who didn't want me to give him their number, you sure seem curious. Maybe I won't tell you..."
"Jules!"
Julia laughed. "Okay, Grouch, I'll tell you. He really didn't say much, though. Just that he wanted to reach you to tell you something. That was it. But why didn’t you get to listen to all of Kevin’s voice mail message last night, hmm?”
Corinne sighed. She really didn’t feel like telling her about what had transpired between her and Nick last night. She just wanted to keep that private for now, anyway…
“Oh, I just hit the "end" button accidentally during the message, that's all.” Corinne tried to make the lie sound convincing.
“You are a horrible liar. You always have been. Nice try, though.” Julia snickered.
“Alright, alright! So, Nick was here, but nothing happened!”
“Nothing happened? That doesn’t sound like nothing happened. You and Nick in a hotel room alone, together - tell me everything!”
“Pervert. No, I’m not going to tell you anything. Like I said, I have a headache and I have to listen to Kevin’s message, so get the hell out of my room.”
“No, I’m not leaving. I’m your friend and I’m entitled to any and all of your deepest, darkest secrets, so spill it! Oh and you still owe me an explanation about your break-up with Kevin anyway. So, now you really owe me.”
“The trouble with knowing you since I was 11 is that you know me too damn well. God, Jules, I don’t want to talk about it.”
Knock! Knock!
“Corinne, it’s Nick. Is everything okay?”
“Oooh, maybe Nick will want to talk about it!” Julia stood up and walked to the door.
“Don’t you dare open that door.” Corinne said, holding her temples, trying to stop her head from exploding.
When Corinne saw that Julia was about to open the door, she ran into the bathroom. This wasn’t happening. Her best friend and her possible lover-to-be in the same room with her and she was still dressed in the same clothing from last night, her hair was a mess, her make-up non-existent and she looked like she was 34 or older, not the young, sexy, vibrant thing of maybe 25, 26 she felt like last night before she started her crying session with Nick. This isn’t happening, this isn’t happening, she thought as she ran some cold water and doused her face with it. God, that was cold. What a rude wake-up call. She dabbed her face with a washcloth and when she turned off the water, she heard voices.
“Hi, Nick, what’s happening?” Julia greeted him.
“Oh, hi, Julia. Not much. Is Corinne around?” Nick asked.
“No, I’m here by myself.” Julia replied.
“But I heard you guys talking…” Nick said, confused.
“You must have been hearing things.”
"Jules!" Corinne burst into the room, washcloth in hand, throwing daggers with her eyes at Julia.
“My work here is done. Uh, and Rini, I expect a full report later. I’ll call you.”
“I won’t be here.”
“Then I’ll find you.”
“Good luck with that.” Corinne said, sarcastically.
Julia laughed. “Bye, Nick. Have fun. She’s in a foul mood this morning.”
“Go and just maybe I'll call you later.” Corinne said, smiling this time. Julia was just too much, but she loved her.
Nick laughed as Julia waved and closed the door behind her.
“Corinne, what’s going on? Are you okay?”
“I'm fine. Hey, I thought you were going to call me."
Nick looked sheepish. “Yeah, I was, but I just woke up and got into my car and drove here. It’s only 10 minutes from my house.”
“Uh, huh…” Corinne eyed him, suspiciously.
“Okay, I admit it. I wanted to come and see you again. Is that a crime?”
“No, but I would have preferred to see you when I had a shower, some clean clothes and make-up on and I didn’t have a horrific headache! Oh…” She sat down on the bed with her hands on her forehead.
“Here, give me that.” Nick said as he took the washcloth out of her hands, went into the bathroom, ran cold water over it, wrung it out, brought it back to her and placed it on her forehead.
“Now, lie down.”
“Yes, doctor.”
Nick laughed. “Yes, I’m Dr. Carter right now, so listen to me.”
“Whatever you say. Oh, that feels better.” Corinne said when she was lying down on the bed with the washcloth on her forehead. “I guess I owe you—again. Thank you.” She smiled up at him.
“Yeah, your IOUs are piling up. I’m going to have collect on those, soon.” Nick smiled and sat on the bed next to her. “I'm glad you're feeling better.”
“Yeah, me too." She smiled up at him gratefully. "Hey, I’m sorry I was so bitchy towards you and Julia…”
“Don’t worry about it. Headaches make me cranky, too.”
“Nick?”
“Yes?”
“Can I ask you a personal question?"
"Shoot."
"Is there something going on between us? I mean, more than the sex or possibility of sex...?”
Nick’s smiled broadened. She loved the way his mouth curved up at the corners and his whole face lit up. His whole, angelic face…
“Honestly, Corinne, I was asking myself the same question last night!”
“And what did you answer yourself?” Her eyes searched his for answers.
“Well, before I answer you… did you listen to the rest of Kevin’s message yet?”
Corinne started to shake her head and then said, “Ow! Not a good idea! Um, no. I was just about to hear the rest of it when little Miss Thang showed up at my doorstep and then you right after her. So, no, I haven't heard anymore than I did last night before I hung up the phone.”
“Oh.”
“Oh?”
“Well, I was hoping you had listened to it and heard what Kevin had to say and decided if you were going to stay broken up or get back together.”
Suddenly Corinne sat up, not giving a damn what her head felt like.
“And what difference would that make to you?”
Knock! Knock!
"Good Lord, I think my hotel room is Grand Central Station this morning.” Corinne shook her head.
"Corinne? Are you in there?" A voice came from behind the door.
Corinne and Nick looked at each other. Kevin!
"Nick, what should I do?!" She whispered.
Nick shrugged. “Let’s face the music. Nothing happened. It’s no big deal.” He whispered back.
“Yes, it is! Nick! He will jump to conclusions!” She hissed in a low voice.
“Of course, he will, but I’m not going to hide! He’s my friend. Let’s just deal with it.” Nick said and Corinne nodded, finally agreeing. She wasn’t in high school anymore. It was time to at least try to act like an adult; she hadn’t done such a great job so far this morning…
