Chapter 7 – Last Night You Saved My Life

As Olivia drove towards Kevin’s house, she smiled thinking back on the events of the past few days.  What a roller coaster it had been! Her life turned upside down in a matter of days! She would have never imagined it, but she was happy and Jack was a distant memory in her mind these days.  And Nick was becoming one or at least she hoped so; she did think of him sometimes try as she might to forget about those gorgeous blue eyes, tousled blonde hair and enigmatic smile…. Oh stop it! She constantly told herself whenever her mind strayed to him.

After the “Nick” incident last Saturday, Olivia had pretty much become a permanent resident at tres Kevin’s and Kelli lost her overnight guest for a few days.  Once Kevin and Olivia realized the full brunt of their feelings for each other, Saturday night was spent making love, only coming up for air to eat something they grabbed out of the refrigerator, and catching some brief moments of sleep in between sex and more sex.  They finally passed out in the wee hours of the morning.

When Olivia awoke the next day, she sat up on the bed and stretched.  Remembering the night before, she smiled and looked around for Kevin.  He was nowhere in sight, but she noticed a yellow notepad was on the nightstand by the bed.  Curious, she picked it up and read:

with your love
last night you saved my life
i stare at the sky looking for the morning sun
i can’t wait to tell you’re the only one

last night you saved my life
and i'm stuck in the moment that you kissed me the first time
last night you saved my life with your love, saved my life
last night you changed my life
last night you saved my life

It was scribbled in Kevin’s writing.  She clutched the pad to her chest as if it was some great treasure and she felt like crying.  Tears of joy, that is.  She had recognized the words from BSB’s song “Last Night You Saved My Life”.  It was one of her favorite songs.  Obviously Kevin had felt compelled to write the words down for some reason.  Could that reason be her?

Still pondering this, Kevin entered the room, two coffee cups in hand.  “Well, good morning, Sunshine.  It’s about time you woke up.  Now, we just have to get your butt out of bed.  No, on second thought…” he put the cups down and was going to kiss her when he noticed her eyes were damp and she was holding something.

“What is that?” he asked, but as the words came out of his mouth, he knew.

“Well, I guess you found it.  Damn, I was going to torch it, but it’s too late now!” He laughed.  He had to; there was nothing else he could do.  He wasn’t ready for her to find that; it was unintentional that he had left it there.  He had gotten distracted by the alarm on his coffee pot going off and left it in haste.

“What... how... I mean, did you write this down for me?” Olivia asked innocently.

“Yes, I did.”  Kevin confessed.  “I was just watching you sleep and I thought of those lyrics.  Now I’m regretting writing them down.  Damn it.  I should have used my laptop and I could have erased it really fast.” He continued to joke, but suddenly Olivia grabbed him and kissed him with all she was feeling.   That put an end to the joking and he seriously began to develop another hard-on.  It was another hour before the two came up for air and even thought of the now cold coffee by the bed.

That night Kevin took Olivia out for a wonderful dinner at “Paradise Cove”.  He wanted to hang out with Gordon again and show him that Olivia was truly “his” date and not Nick’s.  They ate too much and drank too much and ended up rushing to get home so they could be in each other’s arms again.  As soon they opened the door, the clothes and shoes came flying off and they barely made it to the bed before the action began again.

It was after 11:00 pm when Olivia finally turned to look at the clock on the nightstand.

“Holy shit!” she exclaimed.

Kevin was startled at first since he had never heard her cuss much.

“What?”

“My interview is at 9:00 am tomorrow!  Oh, my God, Kevin my clothes are at Kelli’s house! I was going to go get them earlier, but we got kind of got distracted…” she grinned.

Kevin kissed her.  “Yeah…” as he started to move in for more action.

“Kevin, I don’t think you realize how serious this is! I have nothing to wear!”

“OK, drama queen, just hold on… what if I go over to Kelli’s tonight to get your outfit? Will you be happy then?”

Olivia nodded.  “Yes!” And she laughed and hugged him.  “Thank you!”

“Yeah, you owe me big time!” he said, only half in jest.

Kevin came back an hour later to find a sleeping Olivia passed out on his side of the bed.

Morning dawned way too early for both of them.  Olivia dragged herself of bed at 6am and got into the shower.  Kevin was waiting with freshly brewed coffee and she was thankful.  Since Olivia knew traffic was imminent in overcrowded L.A., she left by 7:30 to make sure she was on time.

Last Saturday was not a happy day for Nick Carter, or at least the second half of the day after Olivia and Kevin took off together.  Still unable to shake his disappointment and sadness for his ultimate loss of the girl he wanted, he decided to check out one of his favorite haunts in Westwood– The Red Rocks Tavern.  He usually hung out there with his good friends Brett or Tony whenever they were in that area, but tonight he would brave it alone.  He was on the prowl for something or more accurately, someone to make him forget his pain.

Walking into the bar, he prayed he wouldn’t get recognized, but at this point, he didn’t give a shit.  He just wanted a drink and to get laid.  After his liquid courage of three beers, he was about to approach this brunette at the other end of the bar when a woman who looked familiar approached him.

“Hi Nicky,” the woman said in sultry voice, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

“Monica? Hi! Wow, I didn’t expect to see you here!” Nick hugged the woman that Kevin had been involved with for two years.  It had been almost a year since he or any of the guys and he suspected, even Kevin, had seen her.

“Well, yeah, like you, I’m here to drown my sorrows.” She laughed at the surprised look on Nick’s face.  “I was watching you for awhile and I saw how fast you downed those beers.”  Nick smirked.

“Come on, sit down.”  She said and Nick nodded and sat down across from her at a booth.  The cocktail waitress came by and Nick ordered another beer.

“So, what’s her name?” Monica asked, downing the last of her Seven and Seven.

Nick looked surprised, but then again Monica could always read him too well.

"Her name is Olivia and right about now..." Nick glanced down at his watch, "...she's probably fucking one of my good friends."

“So, which friend is fucking your girl?” she asked coolly, a smile curving on her bright red lips.  She flipped her dark brown hair and eyed Nick closely.   He was watching her every move, keenly aware of the sensuality she was exuding.

“Well, she’s not my girl.  I wish she were and well, I don’t really want to say who it is."

“Okay, well, now I know who it is.  It’s Kevin.”  Monica laughed again.  “Nicky, it’s okay.  We’ve been broken up for awhile now and I’m over him.”

Nick breathed a sigh of relief.  He never was that good at lying anyway.  “So, where have you been all this time? We never saw you again after…”

“The breakup? Well, actually I left Jive Records to work for Universal Music in New York.  I tried to be a New Yorker, but I just really missed LA.  I looked up the job openings on the internet and do you believe it? I got the Pop Marketing Community Manager position at Jive!  So, I’m back  in good ol' Los Angeles.   Actually, today was my first day and it was pretty stressful so here I am at one of my favorite haunts in Westwood.  It’s been awhile since I’d been here – Kevin used to bring me here…”

“Really? That’s interesting.”  Nick thought it was funny that both he and Kevin liked this particular bar out of all the bars in L.A.

“It’s funny how you think you had friends when you lived here, but now that I’m back, well, I just feel alone like I have no one…” she smiled at Nick.  “…except you, of course.”

Suddenly Nick felt her bare foot caressing his penis through his jeans.  He almost choked on the beer he was sipping and she laughed.  “I’ve always had a crush on you.  Did you know that?” Her voice was low and sultry.

“What about Ke…?” he tried to speak, but he could barely concentrate on anything at the moment except the wonderful sensation of her foot on his engorged member.  She casually let the spaghetti strap of her top drop down and she leaned towards him, showing him her generous cleavage.

“Nicky, I'm all  yours…” she whispered, sending him over the edge.

“Let’s go – now!” He said hoarsely.  After throwing some money onto the table for the check, the two of them hastily exited the bar making a beeline to Monica’s Camaro parked out back.

Driving home an hour later, Nick thought back to his liaison with Monica.  Once they entered her car, they didn’t care that it was tight quarters, they started to undress each other and realized that it would be quicker and easier to undress themselves, so Monica quickly pulled her top and bra off and Nick discarded his shirt quickly, once again, their mouths meeting in a kiss as Nick’s hands fondled her breasts.  Monica moaned into his mouth.  Eager to be naked and Nick inside her, Monica pulled off her skirt, pantyhose and g-string.  Goddamn belt, Nick thought as he struggled with it.

“Allow me, baby.”  Monica swiftly unbuckled his belt, unzipped his pants and removed them in almost one move.

“My God, you’re good at this!” he exclaimed and she just giggled and then bent to remove his underwear with her teeth.  Nick was almost overwhelmed when she did that as was obvious when she was greeted with a huge hard-on.

“Baby, let me take care of this.”  She said and proceeded to give him head until he almost couldn’t take it anymore.

On the verge of his release, Monica suddenly pulled away.

“Not yet…” she smiled and quickly straddled him on the back seat, riding him furiously and enjoying every second.  Nick was overwhelmed by alcohol and the wonderful sensation of her tight, wet cunt enveloping his hard cock.

“Oh, God, Monica!” and as Nick started to come, Monica’s body shuddered with her own orgasm, the two of them moaning their excitement and commingling their juices in sweet release.

Nick was smiling as he thought back to the night’s events, but his smile dimmed as he realized that he had not gotten out of the sexual encounter all that he had wanted.  He had gotten off, that was damn sure, but he had not gotten the girl, the girl he really wanted to be making love to, the girl that would stop the emptiness he was feeling inside at this exact moment.

The next few days passed in a haze for him as he tried to gather together some semblance of his life and get ready to tour with the Backstreet Boys, get out of dodge so to speak and try to get her the hell out of his mind.
